A view from the gardens looking towards the back of the house., Taken shortly after we arrived. The view looking out into the surrounding countryside taken about an hour and a half later is in the PiP, and shows how changeable the weather was.

I love the symmetry and Georgian style of the house Keith. The section on the left looks like it's from a different period, but still beautiful. The bushes either side of the lovely old stone steps are fitting for such a grand house. One must have died at some time and the new bush has a time to go before it reaches the same shape.

A beautiful PiP of the rolling hills and sheep. May weather has been very changeable this year!
Take care and have a good and sunny BH weekend.

English spring…..in all its beauty and capriciousness!
And another of the magnificent homes in which UK abounds. I do like your photo, Keith. I can never, however, quite lose the idea of how privileged were/are the few, and how many the lesser mortals!
Lovely shot…
PS I would fire the gardener…the RHS tree is not clipped to perfection to match the other 3….:)

Glad you like the shot Rosa. The gardener has been taken away and shot (twice)!

National Trust properties belong to the nation. Most are given after the owners die, or sometimes when they can't afford the upkeep. The NT maintain them on our behalf. I think it's a pretty good way of preserving history..........not all properties are grand mansions and gardens, some are quite ordinary places of historical interest. The trust also manages land and farms (with tenants) and stretches of our coast amongst others!

Glad you like the shot Gudrun...............and the place. Hinton Ampner is only a 30 min drive from my house, so It's very easy to visit and a nice way to spend the day. It will be much better in the summer for the flowers etc and the houses etc will be fully open after the Covid restrictions are lifted.

Wechselhaftes Wetter kann eine Herausforderung für den Fotografen sein, aber auch die Chance für abwechslungsreiche Bilder. Du hast die Herausforderung bestens gemeistert, Keith!

Thank you. I usually just drink coffee and eat cake until the weather is favourable again. It works for me..!!
