Let the Good Times Be Gin

Let the Good Times Be Gin
As the rubbish weather continues, so do the indoor photography experiments :-)

I'm happy with the black background, but I don't think I've nailed the lighting yet, although I think this is a good start.

Günter Klaus, Berny, , Annemarie and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

Love the London Gin bottle :)) I would certainly not criticise your lighting...it looks pretty much spot-on to me, but I know we are very critical of our own work Keith. Gin is very popular at the moment with some nice fruity additives. An excellent shot....long long before they are opened ;-))

Glad you like the shot Rosa. Thanks very much.

Yes, gin has become "fashionable" again.............my wife has got four or five different varieties, but we rarely drink, so they'll last forever :-) These bottles are miniatures, part of a "taster" set, so ideal for macro photography!

Photographing glass is really hard when trying to avoid the reflections. My last attempt about a year or so ago I fashioned a light tent of sorts and poked the lens through a hole I had cut out and fired the flash from outside of the tent. But on the face of it Keith you have eliminated pretty well much of the harsh reflections and the remaining does give some dimensional shape to the bottles.

Thanks Maurice...........I like the idea of a light tent............I'll give it a go!

Schitterende opname,Keith.
Heb jij wat te vieren? En heeft dat met de verkiezingen te maken?
Cheers...........

Thank you Frans. It was my birthday today................but these bottles are just miniatures, part of a "taster" set. I may have a couple of beers later, but I rarely drink nowadays :-))

As far as I'm concerned the election was a disaster! I'll say no more than that - but there's little to celebrate for us ordinary working people.

I think it's excellent, Keith! It also brings back memories. My parents' favorite liquor was gin, Tanqueray, specifically. They mixed it with a splash of tonic. ;-)

Thanks Diane................it's my wife who drinks gin, I'm more of a rum or bourbon person but I rarely drink nowadays................just Christmas, birthdays and the like!

Glad to have brought back some memories for you.

I just thought of a Christmas drink I love! Eggnog with brandy or rum. Mmmmm!

Advocaat..!! I remember my mum used to drink it at Xmas........a yellow drink that tasted awful (not that I was supposed to be drinking it).

I see in the comments it's your birthday so wishing you a Very Happy Birthday Keith. It depends what you want with the photos it is picking up some background reflections, on the right hand bottle I like the light that appears to come from the tree, but to me the reflection above the tree doesn't look quite right but it it's about what you like in my opinion there is no right and wrong.
You can play for hours experimenting, I recently bought 2 small Godox flash units to experiment lighting this type of subject, but I haven't done anything with them yet
Have Fun

Thanks for dropping in and commenting Peter and especially for the birthday greetings.

I agree with you about the reflection.......I think it was a stray bit of light coming in between my curtains. I have a couple of flash guns and a couple of macro flashes, but I really need to get a decent softbox and some proper backgrounds. I've put them on my Xmas list..!!
