Spanish Slug

Spanish Slug
A proper treat for you this evening........my apologies to anyone who's browsing whilst eating :-)).

The name Spanish Slug is a misnomer - there is no actual evidence that this lovely creature came to this country from Spain. It is definitely considered an invasive species though and it was first recorded in England in 1954.

Best viewed large on black, but I'll understand if you'd rather not :-))

Thanks Wilhelm. I haven't seen any of this variety in my garden. I found this one in the woods, where it's very wet..!!

Such a huge one. At least the creatures in my garden are much smaller. Great close up!

Excellent close up and in rude health by the look of it, although I must say it's not my favourite creature Keith.

WOW WOW WOW!!! I've never seen a land slug that was so beautiful!! Incredible!! Love the colors and textures, what a beauty. (Steve and I have seen lots of sea slugs, aka nudibranchs, and they are simply amazing to see!)

Thanks for your latest comments, I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures...heh...they were all taken with my phone camera, through bug-spattered glass, believe it or not. (a closer look betrays any illusion of quality!) I was so happy that even still, I got lots of really neat shots! Isn't that fun?!

LOL, yeah, our trailer is big, esp when thinking about your neck of the woods...it would never work!! Measuring in at 39' 4", ours is actually quite a bit smaller than many rigs out there. We had a cutoff at 40' because that's when it gets difficult to find places that can accommodate the size. National parks were the decider--bigger than 40' and it's going to be a losing battle finding a campsite big enough. This trailer is about 4' longer than our last one, though it seems much bigger. In truth, it's a lot bigger because instead of one slide in the Grey Wolf, it's got FOUR slides...opposing slides in the kitchen/living room, one in the mini bedroom and one in the master bedroom. It's quite spacious! Walking around inside it's night-and-day roomy compared to the Grey Wolf and the space is so much more intelligently laid out. Let me know if you'd like a link to the website page...it's even got a virtual tour!

A spectacular looking creature. I like the frilly orange edges. A touch of flamenco dancer ? Never seen one before. Maybe they haven't reached Scotland yet.

A superb shot of this little devil Keith. Have had a lot in the garden and they love the pansies and delphiniums! Have found they don't like walking over sawdust though!! :))

Wow, never seen one that colour Keith, well done.
One night about a week ago, I opened the back door for Harry to go in the garden for a minute before bed, and the whole patio was covered in slugs....had never seen such an awful sight lol.
