South Parade Pier, Portsmouth.

South Parade Pier, Portsmouth.
...........................and this is about as good as the sunset got..!!

Cropped, to remove boring sky at the top and boring pebbles at the bottom. Best viewed large, on black. Thanks.

Viewed on black or white, it's such a beautiful picture Keith, and the best I have ever seen of Southsea Pier! I love the delicate colour tones. It also reminds me of the drenching I got further past the pier last October ;-)) A superb shot.

You're too kind Rosa.............thank you so much! A drenching doesn't sound very pleasant, especially in October. I hope your camera was OK ;-))

Fantastic picture! It's a beautiful building. I like how the colour of the roofs resembles the colour of the sky. The faint yellow stripe on the horizon is the icing on the cake.

Marvelous, Keith. I really like the architecture on the pier. I also think you did a really nice job with what was given to you because it's a terrific picture!

Thanks too for your comments on my fence picture. I was really mesmerized by the dancing dapples on the fence, they are just so lovely to see. :) I'm glad you enjoyed my insets too! :)

Your description of what you got rid of made me laugh but you got a great result. The colours are beautifully delicate. I love the building and the pier really stands out.

I have read at least two English novels with a pier like this as a backdrop. Can'i recall which ones. Anyway, for me this is a very English scene - well captured!

I'm pleased you didn't say Orwell's 'The Road to Wigan Pier', Diane!
If unsure, you may ask me why!

Thanks Diane...............the pier very nearly got demolished..!! It was closed for quite a while as it had deteriorated to the point of being dangerous. They eventually found someone who was prepared to put up the money to have it made safe so that it could be reopened.

Nice soft tones, though I think you are unkind to the pebbles - 'boring' indeed ;-)

Thanks............glad you like it.

It's not the pebbles per se..............simply the vast amount of them :-)
