That looks like a relative of our Strangler Figs climbing around the tree trunk, Karen.

I'm not sure what it is, George. It might be ivy. It is really big and invasive whatever it is.

At night that would be scary, in the light it is a delightful mesh of vine.

seen and enjoyed in 'naturey crap - crappy nature' - thanks for adding

Great structures and patterns! It seems the tree so far has survived the embrace:-)

Maybe it's just a gentle hug. ;-)

I suspect the long-term prognosis for the tree is not good. Interesting, though.

Hi Karen

A very nice picture!

In England we have ivy similar to this, and eventually it strangles the tree. We cure it by cutting through the ivy stems at the base of the tree, In time the rest dies!

Best Wishes, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!

Thanks, Peter. :)

Yeah, it's so pretty when the ivy it growing but it's a shame it can actually kill the tree. If it was my tree I probably would have cut the ivy down when it first started.
