Out of the Window

Out of the Window
This week in SSC:

"Take a photo through a glass pane."

This is looking through the window on our front door at a hanging fuchsia basket. It was interesting focusing due to the etching on the glass (you can see the window in the PiP.)

...and for Sight and Sound

Seal from the soundtrack to the movie "Indecent Proposal" (1993)

Hi Karen,

I really like what you have achieved here! It is so clever using the distortion of the glass to make a frame for the flowers. I brilliant idea!!!!
Then we also get some wonderful images of the flowers. You must live in a very nice house!

Best Wishes and a good Sunday.

PS, I just found a whole lot of comments you had put on some of my older pictures. I don't know how I missed them at the time, but I did - Sorry! Anyway I hope I have suitably responded to them all now!

Well, we have a nice door anyway. ;-)

Thanks very much, Peter. I'm glad you got to see my earlier comments. No worries though, that happens to me too sometimes. :)

It's lovely because the panes distort so interestingly! Yes, focusing was quite "interesting" in this challenge, AF doesn't always do what one wants;-)

This works beautifully for the challenge, Karen. Love the effect of the shallow depth-of-field. Exquisite colours that are even more enhanced when viewing on black I say :-) A 5 star shot for sure! An ace musical match for 'Sight and Sound'. I didn't know the song was from "Indecent Proposal". I had forgotten about this film and I just found a clip from the film on YouTube. Surprising that Helen actually allowed me to watch the film :-)))

Thank you for posting to Sight and Sound : Pictures & Music

Lol, Roger. :D I'm so glad Helen let you watch it. From what I can remember it was a good movie but so painful too. What a dilemma they had. It might be good to see again. I do like all the actors in it.

And thanks so much for such a nice compliment on my entry. It was fun and a little challenging this week. I never think to shoot through glass and it's kind of fun seeing the different effects.

They had a dilemma for sure!! Yes, it was a good movie and I think I would like to see it again. Charity shops here still have lots and lots and lots of DVD's for sale at rock bottom prices and I shall be keeping a look out for this film :-)

Definitely a good challenge this week and I am already thinking of other 'through the glass' subjects in Oxford :-)

Some of the "older" movies are so worth watching again. I don't like much of the new stuff cause it jumps around so much and I don't get a chance to focus on things. It's the new way of filming I guess.

I'm so glad that our last challenge is something you want to repeat. It isn't always that way. :))
