Silk Purse

Silk Purse
TSC - Sight and Sound

Diptychs

I've always loved little piglets and I have a small salt and pepper shaker collection of them so they are my focus for this week's challenge.

I chose a song from Linda Ronstadt's 1970 "Silk Purse" album to go with my diptych:

I'm Leavin' It All Up to You

Zsuzsa, Indycaver (Norm), Annemarie, Roger Bennion and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

I love how you composed this diptych, Karen! :-) That little sow is just as pretty as the silk purse! I love the song, too (Linda Ronstadt is one of my faves)!

Thanks Val. Glad you like the song too. It's always been one of my favs the way she sings this. (lyrics are a bit pathetic imo though ;)

Have you seen the little piggies in their starched white shirts? ;)

I thought of using that song and can't find any Beatles' tunes anymore on YouTube. They all seemed to be banned now. Have you noticed?

You are right. The dark power of Mammon erased them. Clutching the cutlery. ;)

But we have an alternate stream: The Beatles - Piggies

oh keski, the current mrs smith has a thing for pigs and piglets... she wanted some real ones at the end of the garden but i soon quashed that mad and potentially stinky idea :-) i bought her some real sized and i have to say realistic looking mache models instead that 'grazed' the gardens at our last abode. she has all sorts of piggy toot that collect dust in various locations, but i have subtely managed to exile most to the garage ;-)

she would approve wholeheartedly of your salt n pepper shakers... i'm still not a convert to the cause though! very nicely photographed i have to say.

Thank you Jon. (I used the lens you got me on these pics.)

Your wife just becomes more and more likable all the time. :D

Did she ever get to watch this U.S. sitcom from the 1960s?

Green Acres

It featured a little pig named Arnold Ziffel. I think that might be where my love of pigs originated lol

the current mrs smith is a good deal younger than me and i cannot recall the name of that programme in the dim and distant.

i'm glad to see all the air miles that lens clocked up did not go to waste or destroy another bit of the ozone layer for nothing :-)

oh and keski, that song made me do a little bit of sick in my mouth :-)

Not loving the song huh? Well, it's interesting to note that it was written in the 1950s and by 2 men as well. Linda Ronstadt often sang songs that were written from a man's point of view which sometimes changed the meaning too. She was the first singer that could get me to listen to Country music (quite a feat at the time.)

Delightful :-) I must be getting better 'cos after I saw the "Silk Purse" title and before I looked at your description I immediately thought of Linda's album :-) When I clicked on the link I got a message saying "This video is not available". But, no matter, I have found another link :-) Also, I still have the vinyl issue of the album :-) Faved work and thank you for posting to 'Sight and Sound', Karen. Congratulations on Explore!

Glad you could find a link that worked Roger. I still have my album too. It's a good one, but the tunes are all so full of heartache. Linda's specialty.
