The Sunday Challenge - Water

The Sunday Challenge - Water
Well, this was certainly a challenge with lots of trial and error for me. I did learn some good things though. I started out in Shutter mode and couldn't get any kind of flowing look to my shots so I did some reading and found out that a low ISO and an aperture of f22 at 2 seconds was more of what I needed along with a polarizer filter to cut down the light. It was interesting to see that as the daylight faded I was able to get a longer exposure. So...here is my entry.

Thanks Jan. There is so much good help in the group and online in general. It was just a matter of taking the time. (I even had my tripod in the waterfall at one point. :)

Thanks so much Paul. It took some playing around and a lot of persistence. I have plenty of crappy shots to go along with this one. :)

Excellent composition and, of course, the long exposure has worked well. I was ust wondering if your polarizing filter had added a slight blue tint, or was that blue there? It would be dead easy to do something about it.

k.e.s_kloset has replied to *starless*
Thanks so much starless. It might be my filter that is causing the blue. I can't say for sure though. I just tried getting it out in iPhoto with no luck. What might you suggest?

wow keski, for a novice at this stuff you did brilliantly. and of course you've learned that the higher the f stop number, the slower the shutter speed will be for an accurate light reading... just what you need to blur the water into a 'fog' or perpetual motion. this is so well done and your patience and persistance has paid off. great composition too and the panny hasn't let you down on the metering either. i'm really so proud of you, this is a top quality shot!

(get yourself an 'nd' filter to make this easy for any time of day. i would suggest an nd 16 to kick you off.. they are very good value too)

Jon, thank you for such a nice compliment. This really means a lot to me. I am enjoying learning this camera and it does have so much to offer if I just take the time. Some of this is slowly sinking into my thick skull. :) (thanks also for the tip on the nd filter.)
