Many of the terrestrial orchids around here had been nibbled so these seem well situated in the spinifex :)

Somehow I had never thought about orchid flowers being grazed on but it does look as though these are getting protection from the spinifex. Very interesting!

I had been wondering what was going on, Rachel2, because I'd not seen it quite so evident before.
My guess is either rabbits (they are increasing there) or the white snails that are in adjacent crops.
I'm returning in another month ... will keep my eyes open.
