I'm with you tiabunna ... it has taken two years to get these.
Later afternoon sun in just the right place helped too.

And yes Meadowmom, those beaks could be described as WMDs :)
Their tongues are remarkably agile taking the small seeds out of the wreckage as they work through the cones, too.
The road is littered with fine remains of the cones.
