Self-portrait on transcription disk

Self-portrait on transcription disk
In December of 1987 I needed some photographs of a batch of

transcription disks for illustration in publicity about this special

collection of early-1960s humorous monologues on a local radio

station. To get a couple of usable images, I took about fifty

photographs (on Tri-X). One of the first was this, as I got the

set-up set up properly. For later pictures, I closed the window

curtains and turned off the overhead light. It was those lights that

made such clear reflections, including the one of me leaned over

peering into the camera. I must have leaned back quickly because you

can also see the ceiling air vent behind me. This picture was *not*

used in print. (I cropt it and made the noisy outer frame in PSP

today, after scanning it.)

This particular disk had a monologue called "Fallout Shelters" and it

was aired 29 September 1961.

Sylvain Wiart has particularly liked this photo
