"Real" cherries

"Real" cherries
Many people grow up on this island, Newfoundland, thinking the only
cherries growing here are pin cherries (a.k.a. choke cherries), tiny
little things that have no sweetness, hardly any flesh, and an
attraction only to birds or show-offs.

But some of us are lucky enough to live in little microclimates that
allow for sweet cherries to grow. Like our garden.

These are not huge cherries, but each is between 1.5 and 2 cm across,
about eight times the diameter of the choke cherry. And each is very
juicy.

Sylvain Wiart has particularly liked this photo
