To me, most cemeteries look best at night. Esp. around All Saints as we call it (or All Hallows Eve - that's what Halloween actually stands for). This picture would be so much nicer, with many more candles, if it was actually shot on November 1st or 2nd. (But then I couldn't submit it to the MSH anymore, so I had to make do with this.)

Anyway, whomever came up with the idea that cemetery is spooky at night, probably really disliked hir past relatives and had good reasons to fear they might return to haunt hir. :-)

But for people that lost their loved ones, cemetery isn't spooky or scary. Far from it. It should provide some sort of comfort and relief. Not comfort for the dead but primarily for the living - by making it somewhat easier to show your respect to people that passed away. And to bring back memories. Hopefully not painful ones of the death, but good ones - of the past times, spent together.

And night time - with all the twinkling lights - is IMHO the best time to feel and see these sentiments. Not just your own, but oher people's as well.
