The "judge" is sitting in his cosy corner. No need for jury or witnesses, of course. Such unnecessary factors could only interfere with justice in a way his employer might find, um, troublesome...

The torture chamber, this side of the door, perhaps looks a wee bit less cosy. It does sport its own fireplace, but I got a burning suspicion, it's main purpose might be something else than keeping prisoners warm and comfortable.

Well, maybe just warm.
Very warm even.
In some spots at least...

This part of the castle was built, long after rogue knight Erazem had gone.

IMHO he dealt swift justice with his own sword and had no need for keeping prisoners in such a way, and using even more, uh, elaborate methods of persuasion. These were introduced by later owners (counts of nobler lineage).
