In the shadow of Chevron

In the shadow of Chevron
The main farm building pictured here, well and truly in the clutches of natures reclamation.

Rhoscrowther was selected as the site for a 550 acre oil terminal in the 60's. Most of the residents cleared out in 1992 after an explosion at the refinery. I can only imagine what a beautiful and tranquil place it must have been before the oil company arrived.

The first thing to hit when approaching the village is the smell. Even worse is the constant hum of the Chevron/Texaco plant, you just can't escape it. I'm not sure how many remain in the parish, but for those who do, it can't be a pleasant experience, living in Rhoscrowther.
