Gertrude Jekyll's Garden, Lindisfarne

Gertrude Jekyll's Garden, Lindisfarne
Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1932) was an influential British horticulturist, garden designer, artist and writer. She created this walled garden in 1911 and it still produces a riot of colours and scents to overload the senses.. Heritage vegetables are grown here too.
Her influence on garden design has been pervasive, worldwide, to this day..
The garden occupies the site of an old vegetable patch which once provided the soldiers in Lindisfarne Castle with food.

I remember visiting it a long time ago. I t was magic. We walked St Cuthbert's Way in Holy Week and crossed the sands to Lindisfarne on Good Friday. That was magical too.
