Portmeirion

Portmeirion
Portmeirion was built by architect Clough Williams-Ellis.. he bought the land in 1925 and spent the following 50 years building/renovating the place..
The village sits on it's own peninsular overlooking Traeth Bach tidal estuary and is surrounded by 70 acres of forest gardens which contains temples, lakes and gazebos.. there are many miles of paths which lead through the forest and down to the beach..
All the cottages at Portmeirion are Grade ll Listed and are used as holiday lets and hotel suites. no dogs, other than assistance dogs are allowed into the village..

Thank you Judith - the colours were so unexpected and, sometimes, the only way to express what i was seeing was to use the UWA lens... An amazing place to visit.. i do intend a re-visit..

Ha, I'd have thought this is in Spain, with those strong yellow and turquoise colours.

Hi Swire - so good to have your valued feedback... in deepest, darkest, Wales there is an explosion of colour which beguiles the senses... such an amazing place to visit.. quite steep in places but well worth the effort of visiting.. i shall be returning...

I can see why you'd like to come back to this place, Jorlam. The vibrant colours simply open one's heart, if you know what I mean.

Jean, thank you for your lovely response (comments and fave).. it would be very difficult to not come home with some pics.. the place is awash with colours and details - even though they are starting to look a little tired just now..

Well chosen POV leads the eye up and up. The subtle colours are well captured. Excellent work!!! I have spent a lot of time in Wales but never had the opportunity to visit this remarkable place. Best regards, Michael
