ACHI thangka

ACHI thangka
Achi Chokyi Drolma - the patroness and guardian of the Drikung Kagyu lineage in Tibetan Buddhism.

Her story and example are both extraordinary - and when she grew up, found the partner and consort she had visualised, she married and had several sons. Her grandson Lord Jigden Sumgon became one of the most profound writers and practitioners with the lineage founded by Gampopa, and himself founded the present-day practice lineage of the Drikung.

Achi Drolma wrote, with Jigden Sumgon, her own practice sadhana/pujas - two versions of which exist. Her presence is a benefit and an inspiration to all students in the Drikung Kagyu practice tradition.
