Waterfall At The Lake Superior Zoo

Waterfall At The Lake Superior Zoo
This lovely waterfall on Kingsbury Creek is located on the grounds of the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth, Minnesota. The old Duluth Winnipeg and Pacific railroad tracks once crossed the creek on that bridge. It looks peaceful now, but in 2012 a swath of impressive rainfall amounts ranging from 5-10 inches fell over much of the Duluth area during the period of June 19-20. A raging Kingsbury Creek flooded the zoo property, drowning over a dozen animals. Two seals were swept from their enclosures, but were returned safely after being found on a local street. The polar bear escaped its exhibit, but was safely returned after being tranquilized by a dart.

A cool way to view mine or anyone else's photostream is on fluidr.
