Spiranthes odorata (Fragrant ladies'-tresses orchid)

We woke up to a frosty morning -- fairly unusual for a wildflower field trip, I think. Walter Ezell and I had driven to the Green Swamp in Brunswick County, North Carolina to photograph the fall orchids and wildflowers that never disappoint during the first week in November.
