Oh I just love that you looked up Upper Klamath Lake online! Yes it's really something. The largest lake in Oregon (though extremely shallow in most places), and so photogenic. (well most lakes are, aren't they?! :D) It's a very important breeding area for both waterfowl and other species and birders descend on this place whenever there is a massive influx of birds. I've never been there during the most popular time to see birds (I think that's sometime in autumn), but as I've mentioned, to see birds is a treat but not a requirement! :) I would have been overjoyed to just see one single bird I'd never viewed before but as it happened, I got to see at least half a dozen! A died-in-the-wool birder would have been disgusted but I'm over the moon! :)
I'm so happy you liked my little Buffelhead ducky, what a cutie pie! And also, I agree, the Brewer's Blackbird I shared as an inset DOES look metallic the way it's iridescent black feathers shone blue-white-black in the light! I was stunned at how gorgeous the feathers looked. Isn't it incredible that some black feathers will turn into a rainbow in the right lighting? I HOPED that would happen when I took pictures of this "ordinary" black bird...but when I saw how incredible the pictures turned out I was elated!! What fun!!
Steve hasn't looked at his pictures yet but he'll be posting them when/if ever he gets around to processing some of them, :) I sure do hope he gets his passion back for photography... he got really burned out after doing 6 yeas of product photography for 8 hours every day, 5 days a week. He was also stuck in a very hostile environment working with people that were like a bunch of neanderthals. All of this took away his interest in creative photography and still, taking pictures brings back the horrible aspects of his job, even a year later. So, we'll have to wait and be patient. Cross your fingers with me...
Thanks again for your wonderful support and interest in our adventures. Part of the reason I'm motivated is you. So thank you. *big hugs*
Jenny McIntyre club has replied to Janet Brien clubWhat an awful shame that Steve got "burned" by work of product photography, working with idiots and as you say neanderthals can totally drain you. Mandi had worked at a school for 11 years and then the school became an Academy, this is where the school opts out of the National Educational System - (in that they are responsible for the money given to them by the Government to use as they seem fit!!!) unfortunately the Board of Governors of Mandi's school suddenly realised the amount of money to be given and so they just worked on saving as much as possible because they would be able to pay themselves more cash!!!! This meant that certain services were stretched to the limit and so some people didn't have the support they needed. There was a big scandal here about "Academies" failing in their duty to the children of their school. Mandi got so fed up and stressed that she was told by her doctor to stop working for at least a year because she would have broken. That's when she decided that was the perfect time to move to Turkey. She does miss the school though. She was a qualified Child Protection Officer and that was part of her job she really missed. I look forward to seeing Steve's pictures as well as yours of course. Big hugs from me to you all x
