Coal Delivery Spur

Coal Delivery Spur
Remains of the railroad right of way connecting Letchworth Village's powerhouse to the supplies of coal needed to keep the boilers steaming. This mile long spur was once part of the Erie Railroad, and connected to the long gone Erie Haverstraw Branch. The width of the embankment suggests there was more than one track here at the end of the spur. As evidence of past activity, the ground is littered with nugget sized chunks of coal that spilled from hoppers over the years.
