some people have asked how I organize my negatives. This is an example of what I do.
• sleeve the negs
• scan the sleeve and assign a sequential number to the scanned image as a contact sheet
• save the scan in my computer's 'contact sheets' file folder
• file the original hard copy in my 3 ring binder in numerical sequence
Now I have a digital contact sheet. For easy location should I need to pull a neg and scan it for a print I go to my 3 ring binder and select the appropriate numbered sleeve, pull the neg and scan.
Hope this helps film shooters in our digital world!
FWIW: the colour of the entire scanned sheet does not reflect the actual colours of the individual frames on the negative strip. This sheet is merely a guide to organize. The single scans look more accurate and less homogeneous.
