Make sure you go to the far end nearer to Fairlight Cliffs as they still have the old weathered groynes down that end. The end nearest Rye has had all the groynes replaced by new square cut ones and they don't look as lovely. I love Winchelsea Beach. More atmospheric and usually no one around, unlike Camber's sandy beaches. Keep an eye on the tide times as it's totally different at high tide and low tide... and great in a storm. There's a good parking area opposite the sea wall near the inland ponds. Well worth a visit or fifty.
