My China HuangShan Sketches
TO SEE ENLARGED FOR COMPARISON I was so passionnate to make this trip to the Yellow Mountains that I made some drawings with a charcoal pencil on a bristol card; Inspired by water-colours technics, I was knowing that light comes by absence of colours (called reserves); I applied the same in these faithful reproductions of the photos presented here from a pretty little book offered to me by Madame Yan Manager of the China Tourism Office in Paris; So first I cover all the surface with light lines in the two diagonales, then with my index finger I chafe all the surface to obtain a uniforme grey colour without more charcoal traces, then I draw the subject with more pressure on the pencil and finally I remove with a sharp rubber the grey colour to enlight the drawing.
