The delicate shrine was built between 1622 & 1628, where Grandfather & Grandmother of Empress Mumtaz Mahal (Emperor Sha Jahan's wife) are buried; This monument represents a transition between the first Indian style Mughal constructions in red sandstone and the white marble jewels built in the future; First shrine built in white marble in India and first use of marble incrustations; An exquisite balustrade in marble lace surrounds the roof terrace and the walls are inlayed of semi precious stones in a very delicate work; This work named Pietra Dura is said to be finer than in Taj Mahal; India Uttar Pradesh Agra Mughal Shrines and Tumbs Itimad-ud-Daulah.
