There are two side turrets, the right one is not visible here; Only the lower part is original (built in XIIth century); it was, like the Tower of Pines, ancient fortifications of the twelfth century, around the current center of Montpellier; After the destruction of the walls, Babote was saved, then it measured fifteen meters and overlooking a moat which has been filled after the Revolution; An observatory was installed in the eighteenth century by the Royal Academy of Sciences; In 1789, a floor and side turrets are added; In the nineteenth century the height of the tower will reach 53m; She then served to telegraph services; Today, the place is used for the Exhibition Agreement Bibliophile. History :
- 12th century: Construction of the lower part (the round part of the 25 towers surrounding the current historical center)
- 18th century: Installation of the observatory of the Royal Academy of Sciences
- 1789: Adding the side turrets and a floor
