The Beffry backs the Market Hall and the City hall;It was first a city establishment founded by Louis le Gros mentioned for the first time in 1244; It was formerly used by the notables of the city for meetings, then as a room to keep archives and store weapons and finally as a prison; A tower from where citizens could watch the coming of enemies in order to prevent the population from any dangers; The belfry rings every hour of the day; The monument was restored in 1989; Since July, 2005, the Belfry of Amiens is classified in the UNESCO world heritage list of Northern France and Flanders belfries, as is also the outstanding cathedral; France Picardie Region Somme Department Amiens Capital Town Belfry UNESCO World Heritage.

So pretty with the blooming tree adding just a touch of different colors.

That is not a blooming tree but simply geraniums at a nearby balcony and yes it adds colors and life to the picture! Thank You Carol!
