TO SEE ENLARGED AS ALL PICTURES HAVE BEEN REDUCED!!! From wikipedia: The Cathedral of San Antolín (Saint Antonin) is located in the Spanish town of Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile-and-Leon; It is above all of Gothic style, with additions subsequent Renaissance, Baroque and Plateresque (beam); In Spain they is popularly known as "the Bella Unknown" (the beautiful Unrecognized) because of its lack of notoriety in the country, although it is a building of pure gothic style outside is certainly very austere, but that holds within a beautiful quantity of works of art of high quality and of great value; General Description: With more than 130 meters long, it appears as one of the largest cathedrals of Spain; It reached 30 meters of height and its width is of more than 50 meters to transept, what it must add the dimensions of cloister and the chapter room; What is missing is a facade main itself; it therefore appears sobre and without major architectural ornamentation, a fact which does not reflect the great beauty of its interior, where one can admire over twenty chapels of great interest artistic and historical; Although the construction of the gothic cathedral lasted from the fourteenth in the sixteenth century, the reality which is today the cathedral has put fourteen centuries to be built; All started in effect with the construction of the crypt of Saint Antolin which date of the seventh century and today this large sanctuary is still not completed; The tower of the building, located on the south side, strikes by its lack of decoration; Recent studies and of the excavations have shown that this was in the past a tower of military nature; Once this function become unnecessary, one contented himself to add the pinnacles that constituted the only ornaments; The plan of the building is in the form of latin cross and the characteristic is to have a transept doubled by a false transept; The cathedral thus has five doors; This is due to the fact that the transept primitive was judged too small and was replaced by the current transept; In the chapter room is the important collection of the museum of the cathedral; The latter conceals a masterful : The martyr of Saint Sebastien of El Greco; There is in addition to other treasures, such a large collection of flemish tapestries "Renaissance"; Spain Castile-and-Leon Palencia Cathedral San Antolin.
