At least they have male and female here. The loos on the seafront are unisex.

On principal, I won't (unless in dire straits and there being no alternative) use:
1. Unisex loos
2. "Toilets"

Which I hate, as much as the women who have to use them. They're extremely unhygienic. Here at home I've got separate male and female lavatories, even though the "Ladies" gets used an average of once a year, if that.

Gosh, I've never known anyone with single sex lavs in their house!
Are you sure it's even legal in these crazy times?

And I'm the only one *I* know of who has, and I think that the male-only sanitary fittings were the first that either plumbing/building firm had installed in a private house.

They're making some sort of Politically Correct virtue out of (presumably) a cost-cutting measure. In reality these "PC" public conveniences are inconvenient, unhygienic and rather embarrassing.

I see that gender neutral toilets are now being introduced in schools. This means that the boys won't be allowed urinals, in case the girls notice their non-neutral bits, and the cubicle doors will have to reach from floor to ceiling, to deter any peeping. I was going to say 'peeping toms', but that might make me guilty of misgendering if the tom happens to identify as female, and we must be welcoming to all.

I dread to imagine the filthy state such lavatories must get into by the end of each day, all in the name of child protection.

I've just come across an article about gender neutral toilets in Brighton schools, and the doors in the picture DON'T reach from floor to ceiling. I can foresee problems here, with certain genders peeping under the doors or even trying to crawl underneath.

I had an unpleasant experience many years ago at a Ladies situated near a bus stop, where a crowd of schoolchildren were awaiting their bus home. I thought I was alone in the toilet block, when I was startled by a young lad sliding underneath the door on his back. It was fortunate that he came feet first, because I gave him a good kicking and might otherwise have given him brain damage.

Fortunately only because if you had, the little s**t would have been a life-long burden on the NHS and others who'd have had to care for him.

My best (IMHO) shot taken yesterday was the one of Arundel (which to take I had to standing on the narrow verge of the bypass, inches from the traffic - not pleasant) but they're not "faving" it on Flickr. Am I seeing something which they aren't, or vice versa, and it's actually diarr?

1. My main concern was what my defence would have been if I'd been charged with GBH or murder. I couldn't have pleaded 'self-defence' against a young boy who wasn't physically threatening me. I think it would have to have been 'whilst the balance of my mind was disturbed', as I was severely startled and reacted automatically.

2. If you mean the Arundel photo that you have also posted on Ipernity (which does have a fave), I would suggest that it's rather top heavy. Perhaps you could crop it into a landscape?

2. Yes, but it's a Constable composition, and those need the full height of the tree, and cropped, the cathedral would no longer be on a third.

Like politics and so much else, popularity does not equal merit, nor vice versa. One or two of my recent pictures on Flickr have been big "hits" with 200+ favourites and 5000+ views, but in no way deserve to be, while much better shots go unappreciated.

I stopped in Shalford on the way there and (finally) got a picture of the watermill, albeit not a very good one - it doesn't compose from any angle, and the NT have turned part of it into residential accommodation, which doesn't improve things. This was it in the 1980's - www.flickr.com/photos/14463685@N07/47442564542.

The 'fave' is a convenient bookmark, but some use it merely for virtue signalling.

Why an English primary school wished to have unisex lavatories:

viewer's comment regarding educational standards::
Indeed, the fact that so many of them can't distinguish 'there', 'their', 'they're' or 'to', 'too', 'two' or type 'should've', NOT 'should of' is truly appalling for a teacher. Not to mention that they can't estimate a 20% or 30% discount when shopping, which reveals they don't know arithmetic, let alone mathematics (algebra, calculus, geometry, etc.) Schools are simply day care centres. There are so few good teachers. Admittedly, many senior teachers are justified in having given up.
