I've never done the Coventry Canal. Most of it the areas it runs through look urban, grotty, modern and industrial. Is this spot (Atherstone Top Lock) an isolated island of picturesqueness?

What occasion did you have to go there? Did you see anything else worth taking?

Even in urban areas, a canal can be a haven of picturesqueness, but Atherstone is neither grotty nor modern, although it might soon become so as the old industrial buildings are demolished.
