At one time the Lake District National Park had the all the lovely red phone boxes painted a boring grey to try to make them less obtrusive. But now they've painted them red again and fitted them with defibrillators!

I've seen a few now used to house defibrillators, at least it preserves them. And if you want iconic red phone boxes to be less obtrusive, paint them in camouflage colours so no one can find them!
