This shows how it was before they built that ugly white extension to the side of the Rose pub.

The buildings opposite 121 were two storied houses and shops. A few hundred yards towards Guys were similar warehouses .

Above picture is Weston Street (not Snowsfields) opposite the side/rear of 121.

Clive remembered Guinness's Buildings being opposite, and the smell of laundry and cabbage. Well, you would have seen Guinness's here, behind the pub, before this white extension was built. Do you remember seeing the Rose pub?

The Rose at Snowsfields

Below is the view from the front of 121, where your two-storeyed houses and shops might have been. That is Guy's in the background.

Looking out from 121 diagonally left was a Glazier further down towards Guys a Eel shop The entrance to Guys was down the side road to the right A gloomy forbidding. place. to the right of 121 on the corner a grocer shop then a cafe run by Mr and Mrs Hyams The pub was opposite then a Tobacconist, My father would give Clive and I a shilling to buy cigarettes the change was a halfpenny with which we would a piece of toff y for a farthing each.
