electricity masts are an essential part of the Icelandic nature. You see them everywhere you go in the "untouched nature". It´s part of the official plan to put aluminium smelts all over Iceland and pollute the nature. At least half of the Icelandic population do agree on that policy. It is an old dream of every Icelander to flee Iceland and head West. Maybe all this is part of that dream; to sell the "smeltLand" and flee West with the profit.

I agree on you. Those are amazing structures. I relate to them in an architectural kind of way. They are really a big cultural sign of Iceland. "A nature utility storytellers" and a kind of lifesavers. They bring light-sources to our dark winters. You could easily say that their nature is controversial in a way?
