Fall Tree, 2012

Fall Tree, 2012
For The Sunday Challenge group, who's theme this week was "ground level" images.

This particular tree stands at the edge of my town and each Autumn I photograph it when the leaves start turning. I've been photographing it since the 1970's. The sidewalk at the lower edge of the image ends right here in front of the lens and then drops off four or five feet to the little lane that connects to the main road that runs through town. By standing on the lane, I'm able to position myself at eye-level with the edge of the sidewalk. This is what the tree looked like for October 17th, 2012.

Елена Крайняя, Wierd Folkersma, Don Sutherland, Robert Wilson and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

Sorry that I had to use another shot from the files. Still off my feet. Here's what the same tree looked like in 1979:

Lovely autumn scene, the colors always pop and the little lane takes you straight to the tree. :)

What a nice tree Kenny. I can see why you like taking pictures of it. Do you know what kind of tree it is?

Hope you're back on your feet soon. :)

I'm pretty sure it's a maple, Karen.

Thanks Kenny. I had to go look at the largest size and it does look like a maple. It is one HUGE glorious tree. Just love your photo!

Love this shot. The low level works great, with the path in just the right place to set off the tree.

I was in my teens when I started taking pictures of this tree and didn't even think that, 35 years later, I would still be capturing this tree like this.
