Tony

Tony
Portrait taken at a Dronfield Camera Club demonstration, under very suboptimal conditions (light leaks, freezing water etc.). Tony did a great job of staying still during the long exposure.

Full place clear glass ambrotype. Taken with a 10 inch Petzval lens wide open, exposure 12 seconds. Lit by a fluorescent softbox, fill light and background light.

Alexander (nomotion), Bruno Wahrenberg, Willi Morali, Clemens Schickl have particularly liked this photo

Beautiful. So this is wet plate, correct, not dry plate? Also, what are you using to fix these?

Yes, wet plate. I use Ilford Hypam (rapid fix, ammonium thiosulphate) to fix. Potassium cyanide is the traditional fixer but in my opinion it's not worth the risk.
