Netherlands - Petten
This photo was taken at the dunes of Petten, a town at the North Sea in North Holland that belongs to the municipality of Schagen.

The dunes here were artificially built as part of a huge flood protection project between 2013 and 2015 (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_gegen_Meer).

In the background you can see a large panorama dune from which you have a wonderful view of the surroundings.

PIP: The wooden piles shown in the PIP are reminiscent of the old centre of Petten that was destroyed by a severe storm surge several centuries ago. They are located on the beach only few meters away from the place where the main photo was taken.

Nur waren die Inka-Pyramiden nicht aus Sand gebaut. Glaube ich zumindest. :-)
