Yes, when the crane in the old Kockum shipyard was torn down some years ago, Malmö needed a new landmark. Calatrava had taken part in the competition for the bridge between Denmark and Sweden and had enclosed a brochure of his work with a sculpture on the front page called Twisting Torso. He did not win, but someone within the city counsil remembered this front page and as they say, the rest is history.

Takk. Ef þú átt leið um Kaupmannahöfn, þá máttu ekki sleppa því að skella þér yfir með lestinni, nú eða á bíl, til að skoða og mynda þessa byggingu. 15 mínútna gangur frá brautarstöðinni. Og að eru önnur ansi skemmtileg hús þarna í kring. Þetta er á svæðinu þar sem Kockums skipasmíðastöðin var hér einu sinni, búið að rífa næstum því allt heila klabbið.

Ég var í Köben í lok júlí og langaði talsvert að skreppa yfir í dagsferð. Það varð þó ekkert úr því, en ég fer örugglega næst :-)
