At length did cross an albatross, HFF

A statue of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Ancient Mariner stands on the promenade, He was staying at nearby Nether Stowey with friends William and Dorothy Wordsworth when having walked over the Quantock Hills to Watchet he was inspired to write the poem,

Wonderful light. You've done the statue proud and the sculptor has done the poem proud. I've still got all my school poetry books so I'm going to read it again. I remember all the well known quotations but I don't think I appreciated the poem properly when I was young. Too literal a mind maybe.
