Mountain Barrier HFF
The image is upright honest, No idea why the fence uprights are not.
I assume the fence has a purpose although I have no idea what it may be.

EU funding, maybe? ;-)

Many thanks Leon, so many fences appear to have no purpose but then someone has money to spend on them, you may well be correct with the EU

An interesting fence indeed. I think that what appear to be posts are actually 'droppers', attached only to the fence (not in the ground - see the 3rd up) and meant to keep the wires from separating, so at right angles to the fence. A lot of wire though and as there is no barb I suspect possibly for horses or similar. HFF and have a great weekend, Roger

Thank you George, ground not suitable for horses but red deer a possibility as a good number in the area It's the large mesh on the bottom that also confused the issue.

A great capture, whatever it's purpose it is a serious fence I assume it was easier to drive them straight into the ground than try to get them vertical HFF I hope you have a good weekend Roger

Hi Roger

Nice fence!
Maybe so people will not go over the edge?
Maybe for sheep?
If the fence posts went in at an angle so as to make them vertical, then the height of the fence above ground would be reduced according to the sine of the angle the fence post makes with the ground. (Or a longer fence post would be needed..)

Best Wishes, HFF, and a good weekend.
