Designed by Jacha, he designed a life-size sculpture of a rhino, and worked with local blacksmith Gerallt Evans to bring it to life. the rhino then travelled through the hills of Snowdonia from Gerallt’s workshop to the railway station at Betws-y-Coed where she made her new home at the entrance to the Platform Galeri. There is an information board displayed next to Edith detailing what is happening to the Rhinos and how they are poached for their horns. It is filled with plastic bottle tops and makes a very colourful and thought provoking statement on the platform.

Give the humble dandelion a chance to do good things for our environment. No mow May!

An iconic view at Lyme, the original Cage was built by the warrior priest, Sir Piers V, in 1524. It was used either as a hunting lodge or a watchtower, though its name reportedly comes from its use in the 17th century as a holding prison for poachers awaiting trial. It was rebuilt in the 1730s as part of Giacomo Leoni's works to the house. Courtesy of National Trust.

After its brief flight it stopped here and finished its meal before flying off into the trees. Whatever you might think, it is a very efficient killer.

Spotted in the garden this morning, obviously just captured the pigeon. As I moved to get a better shot it picked up the bird and flew to a different part of the garden and demolished its prey, leaving me to dispose of the carcass and multiple feathers. A case of nature at work rarely seen.
