Some pictorial memories of our recent trip to this small North African country. It was good to get away from the horrendous British weather for a while, and watch the sun rise over the Mediterranean every morning :-).
A bright Speckled Wood (small so probably male), seen in Tunisia last week. This is Pararge aegeria ssp aegeria, the Mediterranean/North African version - the pale yellow/cream markings of the Northern European variety are replaced by larger, vibrant orange blotches. A real treat to come across this in February!
A perky little robin defending his territory with a torrent of song. Seen during a lovely riverside walk on Anglesey a few years ago.

Raindrops on snowdrops
A taste of things to come we hope - they're just starting to look good in Shropshire (9 Feb 2014). Up in the Corvedale (near Ludlow) there are huge swathes of them at the roadside and along the edges of streams.

Eat your greens
2013 was the best year ever on my allotment and I managed to produce quite a few of these beauties - had to net them though to avoid sharing them with all the local wildlife!
