Impressing and menacing view. was that a Fjord? All 3 pictures a bit dark. Was that made on purpose or it just my monitor showing them like this?

Thanks. This was not really on a fjord. Glesvaer is on the coast--actually it is on an island close to Bergen.
If you refer to the general mood as being dark that is intentional. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of ominous clouds and a generally subdued and somewhat flat light that prevailed.
I looked at the pictures on two monitors and they were similar in tone on both monitors. I am not quite sure if it is your monitor making the pictures darker or it is the mood.
I would be very pleased to get feedback from others and see if I need to adjust my monitors--I did calibrate them recently and will check the calibration again.

Thanks Jason. Will be happy to add to the group color blind. As for being an administrator for the group I am not quite sure I have the time to take the responsibility.

checked on recently calibrated CRT and decent LCD. for me it works, and the white frame is ... yy just white ;D so it think it's ok.

The picture - i like it, i just love that kind of landscaped and views... no sign of human, pure nature.
With every new day i'm stunned how clouds look like in bw. It makes me wonder where i was all those years... ;D And this photo is perfect example.

I'm not sure about the frame though. For me it's too wide. Maybe it's just my thought as i'm not a fan of strong frames.

Thank you raf for the visit and feedback. Yes it is amazing how things look different in black and white--a very different mood altogether. Color adds another dimension to the photograph and when we strip that away we are left with a different photograph where the emphasis is on form, light and shadow and the interrelationship between the various visual elements. Black and white photography is necessarily interpretive--this not to say that color photos are not. In a sense black and white photos are surreal.
As to the use of frames, I use frames to isolate the image. I don't quite like the way the thumbnails are presented in the gallery page in ipernity and that is why I use the frames. Yes I do understand that some do not like frames and I am one who does not like the large fancy frames of any kind. I simply use pure white background for isolating the picture from the surrounding clutter as I already mentioned. Thanks again for the feedback. I truly appreciate you taking the time to provide it. I hope you are doing well.

Mhm, I fully agree on what you've said about b&w photography. Sometimes colour even takes our attention from what is really important in the photograph. B&w is powerful but difficult in use tool.
I see your point with frames.
I really enjoy your work, and discussion with you is priceless ;), so i should be the one who thanks ;D
And thanks, i'm quite ok. ;)

No HDR ! I really dislike HDR and so I never use it. I did not do any processing acrobatics other than convert to B&W and some burning and dodging to get the contrast I wanted. Thnks for the visit, comments and stars.

hihihihhih ~ i'm sorry but knowing your long dislike for HDR, Aref, the above comment made me laugh a bit :D Sorry the.art.of.nudity :] please dont take it personally :]

I like this sentence; In a sense black and white photos are surreal.

Yepp.

Personally I hardly ever take pictures with colors. Monochrome suits my idea of photography more. Dont get me wrong, I like color imagery - but I think photography always is a false representation of reality - that is, it can never be a objective one.
