'Desperate!' (TSC - What's Left)

'Desperate!' (TSC - What's Left)
This is my emotive interpretation of this week's subject title! I really feel for those people (and the family and friends left to deal with the consequences) who become so disillusioned with life that they can consider ending such a precious thing prematurely! Thankfully, I have never been in this state of mind and hope that I never will be! This did not stop me trying to understand what it might be like however, with a little poem I wrote this morning......

'What's left....'

What a sad and heart wrenching waste of a life,
To think that simply living is such a great strife,
There's no where to turn, no easy way out,
Is this for real or just a really loud shout....

For the help that I need in such desperation,
I can sense it now with my shallow respiration,
It's all fuzzy and hazy and totally screwed up,
Another swig from this hellish demented deathcup....

I wish that there was another answer to this,
But I really can't see beyond the teary mist,
My brain is in turmoil, my nerves are a wreck,
Struggling in the dark - mobid thoughts I can't check.

There is no sense, no understanding - all logic is gone,
I only know that I must end it - I simply can't go on,
I am really sorry to those that I am leaving behind,
This bleak and hopeless life - I can't face the grind.

It's so tragic I know and most will never understand,
But I'm just treading water in a tortuous no man's land,
Please try to forgive me and stifle the hate,
I can't change my mind - it's all much too late....

Wow, for not having experienced this sort of debilitating depression, you have somehow captured the experience through your photo and poem in a most powerful way! I am compelled to fave it, not because I love the subject matter, but because you have so perfectly exposed desperation at its most extreme. Maybe if we can all understand what this feels like from the inside, we can be more effective in helping our desperate fellow humans get through it without taking their lives in the process.
Well done, Goffy.

Goodness Goffy how moving your words are ... they have the depth of emotion that draws us into the mind of a desperate human being. Your image certainly relates well to the sadness of the situation. You have done a fine job with a desperate situation Goffy.

Your poem is very moving as is your photo Goffy. A very thoughtful composition.

One of my son's friend's dad committed suicide this last Halloween. He was only in his 40s, but he just could stand life any longer. So very sad.

it is a place no one wishes to venture
sadly many do ... for many it is a cry out
for some there is no return . . . often those
left behind say ... how could they do this
to me ... I think they miss the point ... if
someone was not in this terrible situation
they would think rationally and not end it,
it is because they have hit rock bottom that
they cannot think rationally and really, it is
not their intention to hurt anyone ... they
just cannot cope any longer ... they are
on the inside looking out ...

A very moving, thought provoking, challenging and emotionally charged image Goffy. The same can be said for your poem, especially as you've said you have never been afflicted by suicidal thoughts yourself.

I must admit that the challenge conjured up similar images in my own mind, but as someone who has battled with severe depression on and off for a number of years I felt it best to look for another subject.

Glad you tackled it though as it's a subject area that far too many people seem to shy away from discussing!
