Dunstanburgh Castle is the largest Castle in Northumberland.
It lies on a spectacular, and very special headland on the coast of Northumberland, Northern England.
Situated between the villages of Craster and Embleton,it was started in 1313 by Earl Thomas of Lancaster.
By the time of his execution in 1322, the Castle was substantially complete.
It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade I listed building.
The Castle lies within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Turner painted Dunstanburgh many times, usually rising at dawn to do so.
"If anyone out there is planning a visit to this part of the world, the Northumberland region of Northern England is a MUST.
Dunstanburgh Castle is VITAL in all things to do with taking pictures.
Once you get your head around the mind blowing size of this Castle,
both you and your Camera will stay for alot longer than you planned".
