Hmmm, Kellerkind in English... It depends on the context how you use this word.
For me it means here: A child which is active at night and don't like the light. It looks from downstairs to me. (But in a funny way I used this title. )

Otherwise this word can mean (in other context): slum kid, deprived or underpriveleged child. Sometimes kids in war-times too...
