The colours are very attractive and well-rendered, but what impresses me is how you've kept them from dominating the photo. And you did that -- for me, anyway -- with the ell-rendered details. My eyes are drawn from the red pot (and in particular the reflections, across the punpkin to the waves on the right of the grey background. And then back, of course.

Very well done, Gillian, and I am of the opinion that two objects are perfect in this case. I, too, was fooled by the reference to a macro shot, but like the photo all the better for being fooled. What I especially like, however, is the similarity of the two object even though they are so entirely dissimilar. I am not sure why they appear so similar - perhaps it is the colors or the lines - but the photo is wonderful IMO and I would have a hard time finding anything to criticize about it.
