Concorso Ferrari 2008 in Old Pasadena on May 18, 2008.
Over 100 new and vintage Ferrari's were on display on Colorado Blvd. This is the same place they run the Annual Rose Parade on New Years Day. Many of the autos were one of a kind with fewer that 7 ever made. It was estimated to be between $50 - $100 Million worth of automobiles were on display. A bright clear day with record setting temperatures in excess of 100 degree F. Two blocks were blocked off and visitors could just walk around the cars. Most of these cars were real street cars and were driven to the event by their owners. Along with the beautiful cars there were many beautiful women. I was able to use my Canon EOS 40D to get some very nice closeups. It was a great time and was free! Unfortunately I could not record the sound of the cars starting up and roaring off down the streets at the end of the show. The sound of a Ferrari is as important as it's looks. With gasoline approaching $5.00 a gallon here and the need for more fuel efficient vehicles, I think we are seeing the end to an era. The need to go 220mph and get 5 MPG are not for the everyday type transportation, but it sure would be nice to drive one once in a lifetime. |
