Hiding the cable
I hid the cable on the side under the plastic covers and it just gets out under the drivers seat.

Glowing Lightbulbs
Close-up of the bulbs.. they are really working (as the most complicated electric Device I could have thought of).
|
Starting the car
LIGHT.. at least I have some decent voltage there... My voltmeter didn't show any voltage that makes sense while the engine is running. Must be cause there is noise from the Inverter on that cable. As soon as the engine stopped I could read 280VDC.
|
Testing
To see if the device you want to use really likes to work on DC I though of this test-setup. It is another socket, so I can connect my load (power supply) and it has two 40W230V Lightbulbs in series to make sure that I don't blow the power supply if it ha…
|
Plug ready
This is what it looks like, pretty innocent. I need to put a BIG warning label that this is a DC-Socket. DOn't forget to reinstall everything.. I was too lazy to take pictures of the process of putting things back together.

My cable added...
I have O-shaped connectors (6mm) attached to the cable. Ground is connected to one of the three screws that hold the cover in place.
|
View of the battery connectors
The two big screws got removed. doesn't look that terribly complicated..
|
Checking for Voltage
As you can clearly see in the picture you don't see the voltage cause of reflections. But I DID see it, and it was 0V, so it was safe to proceed from here.
|
Cover of the connectors
Under this cover the HV-Battery is connected to the Inverter. We'll have to remove it. The orange button in the middle is for unlicking the cover. Use the Safety plug to turn it counter clockwise to unlock.
|
Seat removed
The backseat is removed (just two screws) to get better access to the battery. This is the european NHW11, so it has foldable seats, I am not sure about the procedure for the US-Version.
|
Other side, viewed from the rear door behind the driver
Here I also removed the cover. The metal you can see if the case of the HV-battery.
|
Safetly plug removed
Here the plug is removed. Keep it on you just to make sure that nobody gets the idea to plug it back in while you are working on the car.
|
Cover removed
The orange thing on top is the safety plug. Turn the little handle and pull it out. This will disconnect the HV battery internally, so it is safe to work there.
|
We are interested in the left lower side of the trunk
Under the cover is the safetly plug
