Lots of detail in the big views (type Z to find out if I'm telling the truth).

Wonderful counterpoint between the angular and the free-form!

Thanks, Andy. The freeform were doing a pretty good pose that day, I think.

Agree - even the darker color separates the figure from all that detail. Excellent.

Those tree angles...love it!

I think it took the snow and the light to help me notice them, Denis. I walked by here literally thousands of times on the way to the local subway station, and it was this day I noticed them.

A nicely framed candid shot John...........and I like the light. I think the very tangled trees and branches could have been overwhelming, but their lines have been softened by the snow!

Thanks, Keith I agree about the snow. Bob made a similar point. As I mentioned to Denis, I walked by this spot literally thousands of times without noticing the forms, and then...fresh snow.

A very nice seasonal shot, John. The subject is very effective in drawing the eye. Looks great enlarged. Have a good weekend. All the best, Joe

Thanks, Joe.I think I had another version of this posted a few years ago, but I cropped it to focus on the trees and move the woman to the left. I found it interesting that when I flipped it horizontally it seemed wildly unbalanced compared to this.

Oh, right -- we users of the Roman alphabet read things left to right.

I continue to be fascinated by the patterns made by tree branches. Black & white is perfect here. Am I correct that you sharpened it a tad?

John FitzGerald club has replied to Sarah P. club
A few tads, Sarah. One of the things I like about raw format is that you can sharpen raw files without creating ghosts. I did sharpen it again in jpeg, though. Wanted it to look like an etching.

I love the fine tracery of the branches full of light from the snow and the dark figure walking into the light.

She was coming out of a walkway with a 15' retainer wall on the left side, Jean, and a two-storey house on the right, so there was indeed a sudden change of light there.

I really like this! A great use of the 'squashed' telephoto perspective.

An interesting point, John. I often have to zoom in (here I probably would have missed the shot if I hadn't). Often I end up discarding the result because it looks too artificial (like Trump's zoomed-uo photos of his inauguration -- which he didn't discard, of course).
